SKATEBOARD PARK

The Blackstone Police Department in partnership with the Blackstone Moose Lodge has started a skateboard park located behind the Blackstone Police Department. We would like to thank the following for making the skateboard park a success:

Bevell’s Hardware

Taylor Ramsey

Blackstone Town Manager Larry Palmore

Blackstone Town Council

Blackstone Moose Lodge

Willis Cullop

Chris Mathias

Willie and Janice Ragan

We currently have several exciting jumps, rails and half-pipe to skateboard on. The park is open from 10:00a.m until 9:00p.m.. All kids under 18 years of age must have parental permission to be in the park and will be given ID Cards to keep with them at all times. Permission slips can be obtained at the Blackstone Police Department. A copy of the rules will be provided and the rules are also posted outside the skateboard park. Helmets are mandatory for all riders.

The Blackstone Police Department held its grand opening for the skateboard park on Saturday October 29, 2005. To date, we have over 225 registered participants! The skateboard park has become very succesful and we would like to thank all the kids and parents that attended the event. The band "LURE" played for the kids and anyone interested in joining the skateboard park can pickup an application at the Blackstone Police Department.

DONATIONS

The Blackstone Police Department will also be looking for fundraising events and ideas to help with costs of putting on programs with the Athletic league. Look for upcoming dances and fundraising events in the near future.

If anyone would like to make a donation to the Blackstone Athletic League or to help with costs of any of these programs for the youth please make checks payable to the Town of Blackstone-Youth programs and send them to the Blackstone Police Department at 101 West Elm Street, Blackstone, Virginia 23824. If you have any suggestions on any fundraising events or additional programs that you would like to see the Police Department do for the youth and the community, please contact Chief Nick Kuzmiak at (434) 292-4376.
